Researchers suggest that if a woman is unable to achieve pregnancy even after repeated IVF treatments there is a possibility that these treatments are being performed in the “wrong window of implantation”. With 10 years of research in this field, IGENOMIX has given hope to the couples who have been trying to have a child through assisted means, by introducing a patented test named Endometrial Receptivity Analysis-ERA. ERA is a state of art diagnostic method evaluating the endometrial receptivity.
A successful embryo implantation depends on a lot of factors and the most important factor is the correct “window of implantation”. A lot of times women opting for assisted methods of achieving pregnancy are disappointed because the treatments do not have positive results. This mostly happens because of a weak embryo or because the embryo is implanted when the endometrium is not receptive. An implantation is successful only when the endometrium is receptive. Endometrium is the inner lining which prepares every month to accept the embryo, moreover this is the place where the embryo implants and resides during gestation. Embryo implantation can only be successful if it is carried out between 19-21 days of the menstrual cycle. This is the window of implantation.
Endometrial Receptivity Analysis (ERA) determines whether the woman is receptive on the day, when the biopsy is performed. If the result is positive then that is the window of implantation for that particular patient. Therefore ERA is a very personalised genetic test that leads to a “personalised embryo transfer”(PET), a timing based on the test performed on an individual. If the result of the test is non-receptive then a second biopsy is suggested to validate the displacement.
IGENOMIX has so far handled over 12,000 cases of ERA Worldwide. Out of these about 2,500 of them were from India alone. “In general we find approximately 26% of patients as Non-Receptive and therefore suffering from repetitive implantation failure. In patients where result is receptive the rate of implantation is significantly higher, close to 45% and chances of a successful pregnancy are 60%”says Dr. Rajni Khajuria, IGENOMIX.
